•
Join Spark Creatives at the Mariner Library for a drop-in style meeting to give you the chance to try using a serger!

Some sewing experience is recommended, and this is meant to be a “test drive” sort of get together instead of a skill lesson.
The machine we’ll have on-site is a Brother 1034D, which is a simple and reliable example of this kind of sewing machine.
A serger is a machine often used for knit material and quick + easy finished seams. If you look at the inside of a tee shirt, the stitches holding the side seam together (under your arm and down your side) were probably done on a commercial serger!

https://meetu.ps/e/Pmxlf/ZTgF9/i

 •
“Hi! I’m Steve — a maker at heart with a passion for 3D printing, electronics, and building robots. Right now, I’m working on an ROV submarine and a self-guiding robot that I hope will one day become a cat toy (though my cats are still a little suspicious... work in progress!). When I’m not tinkering with circuits, I’m making music — I play bass and guitar and I sing with the Seattle Men’s Chorus.”

Join the chat on Discord to hear more from Steve (Obi Wan Jacoby). •
“I just completed a mock up of some bloomers. I love all my fabric, so I try to make sure the mock up is still usable. This will be loungewear because the fit is not the best but now that I have done the mock up, when I go to make some plain ones for under costumes, I’ll have something comfortable and fully functional” says Janet, our founding president. Bloomers are a fantastic piece to add to your costumes!

 •
Sabrina began sewing in March 2024 and has fallen in love with the craft! From her first project of a simple pillowcase to a full cosplay, it was quite a year of learning and fun! Ahead of the holidays, she became quite obsessed with making these quilted tote bags from an Erica Arndt tutorial found on YouTube. Using a mini charm pack and a few fat quarters, these bags are a dream to whip up! You can follow her sewing page @unseamlybehavior ✨

 •
Hasan of @hasan_creates is a lifelong learner. Computer programmer and creative enthusiast, he works with lasers, Cricut, wood lathe, 3D printers, and any other technology that sounds fun. He does some stuff in human size, and a lot of stuff for dolls and doll houses. Look how tiny and amazing these miniatures are 🤩
